Rebecca received a constant headache after what she heard. She could not understand what Dabota uttered. It was impossible to believe! She asked her friend,

“What did you just say?”

“Your father was not the one that cheated,” she replied. “It was your mother who was the cheat!”

She did not know when she began to cry. If it was true, why did her father lie to her? She turned to his direction and looked at him in the eyes.

“Is it true?”

Dr. Mayowa glanced away.

“Look at me!!”

Still, he could not. The tears in his daughter’s eyes weakened him. He felt weak in his knees and legs.

“I want you to look into my eyes,” she said in tears and anger in her voice. “I want to hear the truth from you!”

He had no choice but to look at his precious daughter. “It is truth my daughter.”

Rebecca could not utter a sentence but close her eyes and cry more. She cried. How could she blame and judge her father for the divorce. Her heart was broken into pieces.

He walked to his daughter and carefully dropped his hands on her shoulder but she shrug them off.

“Leave me alone.” She said and she wept.

“I am sorry for lying to you.”

Rebecca turned to face him. “Why did you lie?” she asked and cleaned her face with her right hand. “Why did you lie to me?”

“I am sorry.”

“I don’t want an apology! I want answers.”

“You will have answers if you forgive me for having an affair with Dabota. I sincerely love her Rebecca. She makes me happy.”

She glared at Dabota with a huge frown on her face and back at her father. “Dabota is irrelevant. She means nothing to me.”

Dabota shut her eyes. What her friend said to her tormented her inner mind. The words hurt her tremendously. “I am sorry Rebecca.”

“Your apology is worthless. I don’t have anything to say to you. I want to talk to my father alone.”

“I think we should leave them for now,” Quinn spoke to Dabota. “Let’s leave and find time to see her.”

“I don’t want to see Dabota!!” Rebecca yelled! “I don’t want to see her anymore. I don’t ever want to be her friend.”

Tears were all over Dabota’s face. “Your friendship means a lot to me. I never planned to fall in love with your father. I will never do anything to make you unhappy. Love took over me and I am sorry for allowing it to completely overthrow me.”

“It is not your fault,” Hanks said. “Love is not something you plan, it happens unexpectedly.”
“That is your business.” Rebecca said unemotionally.

“You talk as if you don’t love someone,” Quinn said. “You love Brown Smith and you know what it feels like.”

“Brown Smith is not your father!”

“And you fell in love with him as a married woman.”

“Just leave me alone!!”

“Please let’s go Dabota,” Hanks said. “You can only talk to Rebecca when she has calmed down.”

“I can never calm down. I don’t want to see her anymore!”

Quinn went to hold Dabota’s left hand. “Let’s go.”

“I need to see an officer about the confession my father made.” she said.

Rebecca quickly spoke. “He confessed already?” she asked in a concerned tone.

“Yes.” she replied softly and smiled at her friend.

She refused to put on a cheerful face. “Thank God he confessed. Your mother will be proud of you.”

“Thanks for everything.”

Rebecca only stared at her. Quinn and Hanks took Dabota away and they walked inside the police station.

“This is not the right place to talk about your mother.” Dr. Mayowa said to his daughter.

“Why did you take the blame?” she asked.

He knew his daughter was not ready to go anywhere else to talk. She desperately needed an answer.

“I never wanted you to hate your mother for cheating on me. I have never told anyone this…I caught your mother more than once with another man.”

She widened her eyes. “What!!!”

“I asked for a divorce when I caught her the fourth time.”

“This is hard to hear and bear father!”

“Forgive me.”

“Forgive you?” she asked with tears surrounding her misty eyes. “I want you to forgive me for accusing you for what you never did. I am sorry for taking your love you have for me for granted. I am proud of you father!” She fell into his warm arms and hugged him closely.

Tears ran down Dr. Mayowa eyes. “I am proud of you too,” he said. “You make me very happy.”

She released herself from him and cleaned his face with her hands. “You are the best. I need to find a taxi.”

“Where are you going to?” he asked in a surprised tone.

“You don’t need to worry,” she said. “I will give you a call later and I want you to stay here until they bring Maureen’s son.”

“Tell me where you are going to.”

“There is no need for that,” she said and sniffed her nose. “I will be back.”

“What about Dabota?”

“I don’t want to talk about her.”

“You can use my car.”

She shook her head. “I will be fine.” She said and hugged him again. He escorted her outside the police station to find a taxi. When she did and entered, Rebecca said to him.

“I love you father.” she said with a smile on her lips.

He beamed. “I love you too.”

Dabota spoke with an inspector to inform him about the tape. He agreed for two police officers to follow her home and arrest her father. He informed her to come along with the tape for evidence. Dr. Mayowa joined them. He took Dabota to a quiet place and assured her everything will be fine, his daughter only needs time.
Dabota left with the two police officers, Hanks and Quinn decided to wait for the other officers to bring Maureen’s son. Officer Mike came to meet Dr. Mayowa that Desmond wants to talk to his daughter. Quinn’s heart jumped.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea.” she quickly said.

“Why?” the officer asked.

“Desmond will only say words to hurt my friend,” she said. “She doesn’t need to see him. He only has to pay for what he did.”

“I think she is right,” Rebecca’s father said. “My daughter is going through a lot right now and seeing Desmond will only make matter worse.”

“Well, she’s your daughter and if you think it is not proper or important for her to see him, no problem.”

“Her lawyer will bring the divorce papers for him to sign tomorrow.”

“No problem sir.”

“Did he confess to any other crimes?”

The officer shook his head. “Not at all but he will be persecuted for murder. The gun he used to shoot his first wife was found inside his car. He will pay for what he did.”

“I only hope he will get what he deserves.”

“Your friend, the commissioner of police will not disappoint you.”

Dr. Mayowa grinned. “I am happy to hear that.”

Quinn felt relieved.

The taxi driver drove Rebecca back to the hotel. She wanted to ask her mother some questions. She paid her fare after he dropped her off. She went to the same room and knocked thrice.

“Who is that?” a male voice asked.

She was surprised and looked at the number written on the door to see if she was at the right room. It was still the same. A tall and young man with a faint scar on his right cheek opened the door. A white towel wrapped round his waist.

“What can I do for you pretty?” he asked.

Rebecca was disgusted at his sight and at the same time confused. Has her mother left the hotel? She asked herself.

“Honey,” a female voice said. “Who is that?”

She recognized her mother’s voice and pushed her way inside. “I never knew you are a shameless woman!”

Mariam stared at her daughter shocked! She was wearing a towel and sitting down on the bed. “Rebecca!!”

“Don’t you dare call my name! I thought you wanted my father back?”

“Yes my wonderful daughter.”

“And you have never changed!”

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“I know the truth!” she said with fury in her eyes. “You were the one who cheated and you wanted to manipulate me to bring you and my father back together.”

“But I still love him.”

“You don’t love him,” Rebecca said. “You never did! I am disappointed in you. You have no shame at all.”

“My love,” the young man said after he bolted the entrance door. “Who is this?”

“Shut up and leave us alone!!” Mariam said to her boy toy.

He smiled. “Your wish is my command your majesty.” He entered into the bathroom and locked the door.

“You are shameless!!” Rebecca fired at her.

She rose from her bed and walked to stand in front of her daughter. “I am your mother and I demand some respect!”

“Respect my ass!! Father took the blame and you still have the heart to sleep with a boy old enough to be your son!”

“I am sorry.”

“I don’t want your sorry, I just want you to look at the mirror and ask yourself, if you have the fear of God in you. I thought I had a good mother, a role model…I never knew the woman who gave birth to me is nothing but a cheat slut!”

Mariam raised her hand to slap Rebecca but her daughter held it. ‘Don’t you ever, ever raise your hand on me,” She dropped her mom’s hand. “You are still the woman who gave birth to me but I will never call you my mother again!”

She smiled one sided. “You have the guts to disrespect me.”

“You don’t need respect anymore.” She said and turned her back to leave.

“Does that mean you won’t help your father and I come back together?”

“God forbid!!”

“If you don’t want us to be together,” she said. “I can also make you and your father not to be together again.”

Rebecca turned to face her mother. “What do you mean by that?”

Mariam laughed sarcastically. “I gave birth to you and I am the only one who knows your real father!”

Her left eyebrow cocked. “What is that supposed to mean?”

“That Dr. Mayowa may not be your real father.”

“You are playing with me, right?”

“Convince your father to get back to me and I will not tell him you are not his biological daughter.”

“You are trying to play with my head!” Rebecca said and tears fell from her eyes.

“I might be saying the truth.”

“He is my father and your selfishness won’t make me think otherwise. Go and rot in hell!” She turned and walked to open the door.

“We shall see!!”

Rebecca said nothing. She opened the door and ran out of the hotel. She went outside to search for a cab to take her to the only person that could stop her from crying, the only man that could make her feel safe and powerful. She saw a taxi and entered. On her way going, she was seriously thinking of Brown Smith. He is the only one that can make her feel strong!

Some police officers brought the late Maureen’s son Damon. He recognized Quinn and ran to her. She was excited to see him alive.

“My daddy took my mommy away from me,” he said to her. “Where is she?”

Quinn did not know what to say, Hanks rescued her.

“Your mommy is sleeping okay?” he said.

“Can I see her?”

“Not now my boy. You have to have your bath, eat and sleep.”

Damon nodded his head and smiled.

Officer Mike and Dr. Mayowa concluded that Quinn should to take him back to the village to live with his grandmother. She volunteered to take him to her house and spend the night, the next day she will take him back. They agreed.

Dabota, her father and the officers came back to the station. Everything was revealed to her father but he lied he said those things because he was tipsy. When Officer Mike told him he will send some officers to check the farm for the body, he began to beg his daughter and ask for forgiveness. It was already late for that. He was going to spend the rest of his miserable life in prison. Dabota was very happy!

Rebecca called Brown to ask if he was at home. Brown said he was returning home from the hospital, his father was on admission. Brown told his love he was expecting her. When she got to his abode, Pamela took her to his room.

She left Rebecca at the doorstep. She knocked, entered and sauntered to meet him on his bed. He hugged her tightly as tears filled her eyes.

“Please don’t cry.” he said in a gentle voice.

She could not hold it but told him everything that happened to her.

“I am short of words. You finding out about the relationship between Dabota and your father. Also finding the truth about who cheated and now mother is saying Dr. Mayowa is not your father. This is unbelievable. I don’t want to believe it.”

“I am scared!”

“Don’t be my love. Your mother wants drama.”

“Meaning?” she asked and looked at him in his eyes.

“I think she is lying,” he said. “She wants to put pressure on you so that you can persuade your father to get back to her. She is very desperate.”

“What if he’s not my real father?”

“I don’t want to believe that but if he’s not your real father, that man I have spent little time with, loves you like crazy! Sometimes I get jealous when I think you might love him more than me.”

She laughed.

“I am happy to see you laugh Becca,” he said. “I know you have never told me you love me but I know you do.”

“You mean so much to me.”

“I know and the love I have for you is incomparable.”

Rebecca sniffed her nose.

Brown cleaned her face with his big hands. “I will take good care of you like a real man should. Have the divorce papers being signed?”

“No but my lawyer will see Desmond tomorrow for him to sign the papers.”

“Good because I can’t wait to kiss you!”

She giggled like a newborn baby.

“It’s so good to see you laugh!”

“Me too,” she said in a softened tone. “I am very tired, I want to sleep.”

“No problem.” He said and rose up. “You need to rest.” He carried Rebecca up and lay on the bed. Brown joined her on the bed; it was not to sleep but to watch her with his affectionate eyes.

Dabota decided to go home alone even when Dr. Mayowa wanted to take her there. She informed him she needed some time to think and be alone. He called his daughter to find out how she was doing, Brown picked and told him she was at his place sleeping.

“Take care of my daughter,” he said to Brown.

“It is my responsibility sir.” he said.

Before Quinn, Hanks and the little boy went home, Quinn bought some children clothes for Damon. She bathed him and gave him food to eat. He asked for his mother but Hanks broke the sad news that his mother was no more. He could not understand until Quinn revealed he won’t be able to see his mother anymore. Damon cried in her arms.

“I promise not to make you suffer.”she said to him.

Quinn called Dabota at night to check how she was doing.

“I am very sad my friend.”

“Rebecca needs time to herself.” she said. “You can’t blame her.”

“I blame myself for falling in love.”

“It is not your fault.”

“Is Rebecca back?” Dabota asked.

“She’s at Brown’s place,” Quinn replied. “She will come tomorrow morning.”

“Tell Rebecca I love her.”

“I will.”

The next day, the actress took the boy back to his grandmother’s place. They met her very sick. She was excited to see her grandchild again. Quinn gave her a hundred thousand naira and promised to come back to check up on them. She drove Hanks to the airport. He had booked his flight online and was going back to Canada.

“I will miss you.” she said in a gloomy tone.

“I will miss you more and I promise to come back after the surgery.” They embraced each other before he departed.

Before Rebecca had her bath, Brown gave Pamela some money to get new clothes and underwear for the love of his life. She came back and brought a beautiful blue and white gown for Rebecca. She wore the dress looking fabulous. Brown gave her one of his cars to drive around instead of her to use public transport.

“You should have slept in the same room with me.”

“I had to leave in the middle of the night my love,” he said smiling at her. “I was tempted.”

“Thank you for everything.”

“I did nothing Becca. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call me.”

“I will and send my regards to your father. I hope he understands why I have not been able to come and see him.”
“He understands my love.” Brown said.

Rebecca gave him a peck on the right cheek before she left.

“You don’t have to leave!” Quinn said to Rebecca who was packing her things.

“I have to leave your house,” she said. “I am tired of you talking about Dabota.”
“You have to forgive her.”

“Forgive her for backstabbing me?!”

“She is very sorry!”

“I have to go and spend some time alone,” Rebecca said. “There are a lot of things on my mind.”

“Where will you be staying?” Quinn asked.

“In a hotel.”

“What about your father’s place.”

Rebecca instantly thought about what her mother told her. “I don’t want to disturb him,” she said. “He has done enough for me.”

“He doesn’t matter, he will surely accommodate you.”

“I know but my father and that backstabber are still dating. I don’t want to have anything to do with her.”

“If you can forgive your father, why can’t you forgive your best friend?”

“I had to because he sacrificed a lot for me. He begged for my presence in his life when he didn’t have to. My father is a good man.”

“Is Dabota a bad person now?”

“I don’t want to talk about her!!!” she yelled.

“Please don’t leave,” Quinn begged. “I will be the only one in this house if you leave.”

“What about Hanks?” she asked.

“He has travelled back.”

Rebecca opened her mouth slightly. “I didn’t know,” she said. “I thought he went out.”

“He travelled back this morning after I dropped Damon at his grandmother’s house.”

She sighed. “I will stay but I don’t want to talk about Dabota. You have to understand that I am angry.”

“I know.”

“I will check up on Damon and his grandmother next week. I need to call my lawyer too.”

“I will leave you alone,” Quinn said. “I have to read a script.”

“Thank you for everything and I am grateful

“You are welcome.”

Dabota called Rebecca’s phone number severally in the evening but she refused to pick. Barrister Jake promised to see Desmond with the divorce papers the following day. Brown and Rebecca spoke before she went to bed. She also spoke with her father too.

Rebecca’s lawyer informed her that Desmond refused to sign the papers. He promised to sign them if she come and see him face to face. Quinn made sure she discouraged her not to go there.

“If he doesn’t see you for days, he will get frustrated and sign them.” she said to Rebecca.

“If you say so.”

Rebecca went to the hospital for check up on her two months pregnancy. After three days, she still refused to see or talk to Dabota. Her mother sent her a text message, threatening to tell her father he was not the biological father of Rebecca. She deleted the message. She decided to go and see Brown and his father at the hospital. Quinn followed her.

Brown was delighted to see her. His father managed to smile when he saw he beautiful woman his son is in love with. She hugged him softly on his hospital bed and he prayed for her.

Dabota arrived at the hospital, Quinn was the one that sent her a text to come and see Rebecca. Brown’s father was sleeping when she walked in.

“What are you doing here?” Rebecca asked surprised.

“We have to talk.” Dabota said. She had reduced and there was no makeup on her face.

“Are you sick?” she asked her in a concerned voice. “You don’t look well.”

Dabota shook Brown’s right hand and faced Rebecca. “I have not been eating well.”

She shrugged. “You can blame me for that.”

“I don’t blame you.”

Brown spoke to Rebecca. “I know it is very difficult to do but you have to forgive her.”

“I don’t think you and Quinn understand what is going on,” she said. “After I forgive her, what happens next? Will she continue to date my father and become my step mother later?”

They had no answers to give her.

“I will leave your father.” Dabota said.

Brown and Quinn glanced at her shocked.

“You are willing to leave my father?” Rebecca asked in a dazed tone.

“Your friendship matters to me and I don’t want to take it for granted.”

She walked closed to Dabota and held her two hands. “I can never forget the times you wanted me to leave Desmond, to find a better life partner. I remember when I asked you if I could ever find happiness. You said I will and you promised to make it happen and no man on earth will be able to stop you. I found happiness because you pushed me, if I deny you your own happiness, I will never forgive myself. It is hard to accept you as my father’s girlfriend but love conquers it all. I love you Dabota and I want you and my father to be happy.”

Quinn was shedding tears of joy silently.

Brown smiled at his woman, his dearest. He was very proud of her.

“Thank you Rebecca.”

“Don’t mention.”

Rebecca phone began to ring, she took her phone from her bag and checked the caller. It was her mother calling.

“I need to take this call outside,” she said. “I will be back.”

“I hope there’s no problem?” Brown asked.

“It’s my mother and I will talk to her for long. I am coming.”

“Okay love.”

She left them alone.

Dabota quickly turned to Quinn and whispered into her left ear. “You have to tell her the truth about what happened to you and Desmond.”

“You don’t need to whisper,” she said. “Brown knows.”

“You told Brown?” she asked surprised.

“I know about what?” he asked.

“That I slept with Desmond,” she replied. “She wants me to tell Rebecca.”

“She is right Quinn,” Brown said. “You have to tell her the truth.”

They never knew Rebecca decided not to answer her phone. She switched it off and turned to open the door when she heard their conversation. Her head began to swell bit by bit. She was stunned to hear what they were saying. Being angry was an understatement, she was enraged. Her blood was boiling inside her. She opened the door.

“You slept with Desmond?” she asked Quinn.

They froze. Rebecca did not bother to wait for an answer, she carried her bag and walked out and headed towards the entrance door of the hospital. The three of them ran after her.

“Becca please wait!” Brown voiced out.

She turned to face him. “Wait for what?!!”

“I can explain!” Quinn said.

“Explain that you slept with my husband?!” Rebecca yelled at her. She was furious! “Forget the fact that he was a monster, you slept with the man I married! Quinn!! How could you?!!!”

She fell on her knees. She did not bother she was in front of a hospital. “I can explain.”
“I don’t need your explanation. You have broken my heart!!!”

“Please forgive her.” Dabota begged.

“Please Becca,” Brown said. “Allow her explain.”

She glared into his eyes. “You and Dabota knew about it and never told me. Quinn is a betrayer, Dabota is a traitor and you are a heartbreaker.”

“Please my baby,” he said. “I am sorry for hiding it from you.”

“I love you and you know it! You should have told me…all of you should have told me!”

“I love you too Becca.”

“I want to be alone!”
Quinn rose on her feet.

Brown quickly spoke. “Quinn slept with Desmond because she wanted to prove to you, you married the wrong man but he found out she recorded what happened between them. He slapped her and took the tape from her.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Rebecca asked. “It doesn’t matter if she recorded it, she slept with my husband and not a toy to prove Desmond was a cheat!”

“She wanted to prove he was not the one for you.” Dabota said.

“I don’t want to hear anything from you. I want you to shut up your mouth!!”

“Quinn slept with your man because she didn’t feel anything for him.” Brown said. “Your friend has been keeping a secret from you and Dabota.”

“What secret?” the two of them asked the same time.

“She is a lesbian.”

Rebecca looked at her friend dumbfounded! Dabota was speechless.

“I am sorry for sleeping with Desmond,” Quinn said. “I should have told you about it.”

“Why didn’t you tell us you are a lesbian?” Dabota asked.

“I didn’t want to be judged.”

“I am highly disappointed in you Quinn,” Rebecca said. “I don’t want to see you and Dabota again!” She quickly sauntered to her car, opened the door and entered. They went to meet her.

“Let’s talk about this.” Brown said.

“I don’t feel like talking to you.” She turned on the ignition to drive out of the hospital. Dabota quickly opened the door and sat down at the passenger seat. Quinn entered and sat down at the back.

“We will follow you anywhere you go to.” Dabota said.

“I am sorry for what I did.”  Quinn muttered.

Rebecca said nothing to them. She eyed Brown and drove away. Brown ran into the hospital to check for his car key but could not find it.

“You have to talk to us.” Dabota said.

“When the both of you are tired,” Rebecca said as she drove. “Tell me to stop so I can drop the two of you off.”

Dabota and Quinn continued to beg and ask for forgiveness but Rebecca refused to say a word.

“You should stop the car for the three of us to talk better!” Dabota said.
Rebecca hissed. Quinn and Dabota looked at each other and put their hands on the steering wheel of the car.

“What do you think you are both doing?” she asked them.

“Stop the car!!” Dabota said.

The three of them were fighting for the wheel. Rebecca became terrified and decided to stop the car but it turned into a brake failure.

“The brake is not working,” Rebecca said in a shaky tone.

“Oh my God!” Quinn uttered.

“Jesus!” Dabota screamed in a trembled voice.

The moment Quinn and Dabota removed their hands from the steering wheel, a trailer rammed into the passenger’s side. The three friends screamed out of fear! They felt several pieces of glass scrape their skin as the car tumbled four times before it landed inside a bush. Only one of them was conscious. Blood oozed out from the right side of her head. She looked at her friends and their eyes were shut. Her heart paused for few seconds. She tried to call out their names but she could not hear herself. Her eyes were becoming tired as she struggled to open them. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain, her two eyes gradually closed. Witnesses ran towards the car to check if anyone was still alive, if there was a survivor.
