Five Cool Things You Can Do With Your Old Extensions

If you love hair extensions as much as we do then we're guessing you've got a few old sets hanging around in your vanity that you're not sure what do with. As much as you don't want to wear them we get that you don't want to throw them away either as they're such an investment and super special. So, to help you with this dilemma we thought we'd give you a little inspiration and show you a few cool things you can do with your old hair extensions.
Create Signature Braid:

If your old set is long enough then you can use it to create a signature braid to clip over your hair like a hair band. This looks really cute with a low messy bun and you can do a classic or fishtail braid depending on the look you're going for. You just need to braid a two-clip weft and then pancake it by pulling on the edges of the braid to make it as thick as possible. Once you're done you can secure the end of the braid with a hair elastic and use bobby pins to pin it in place.

Faux Space Buns:

Space buns have become a style staple and we love them for festivals or for when we're feeling more experimental with our hair. You can use your old wefts and some small hair doughnuts to create faux buns that will help to add loads of volume to your space buns. Just start by curling your old set so that they're a little more textured and then cut the clips off and wrap the wefts around the small doughnuts. Use some bobby pins to secure the hair in place and finish with a dust of hairspray.

 Faux Bangs:

If you're thinking of getting bangs but aren't 100% sure then you can use your old wefts to create a faux one instead. You just need to cut the clips off a two-clip weft and then sew it to another two clip weft to make it super thick. Next part your hair in a V shape from the centre of your parting going back and about an inch away from your hairline. You then want to clip in your weft in the same V shape and trim it to the right length to create your bangs. Once you're done you can let your hair down to cover the weft or clip your signature braid over the top instead. To finish the look use your straighteners to curve in the ends of your faux bangs towards your face for a more natural look.

One Clip Pony Wraps:

Your one-clip wefts from your old set are perfect for polishing off your ponytail if you don't want to lose any volume. We'd recommend clipping them together first and then straightening them so that the hair is super sleek and smooth. You can then clip them under your ponytail, wrap the hair around and pin it in place with some bobby pins. We really love this hack and it'll help to make your ponytails look really polished.

Dye Them:

Another cute thing you can do with your old set is to dye it. You could go for a pastel or bright colour or something more subtle but it's cool to experiment with especially if you want to avoid damaging your natural virgin hair. The only thing you need to know is that you can't bleach your extensions as they've already been through a chemical process but toning and dying is totally fine. We'd also recommend doing a strand test first on a few strands of hair as your hair extensions are more porous and take to dye much better than your natural hair.
